SUGARAMA

SUGARAMA

Apologies to everyone who looked at my blog over the last several months to find that it hasn't been updated since JANUARY. It really is appalling- but hopefully I can make up for it now.  Today is offiicially 'Connie-gets-her-life-sorted-out-day'. I'm getting my blog geared up and ready to go, I'm updating my beautiful website and I'm also starting the more physical and materially tangible process of making my new cake sculpture for the BBC Good Food Show in November (yes, I am extreeeemly over the moon about this!).  There is a lot to do- but I'm loving every minute!...

So let's begin with a reflection on my latest art exhibition SUGARAMA in the Vyner Street Gallery which finished last Sunday. It was amazing to say the least- and there were certainly more than a few tears shed at the end.  In fact the whole experience was pretty magical for me- I got to make the sugar installation of my dreams and have people from all walks of life share their opinions with me.  I think I had more meaningful conversations in that one week than I've had in the last year.  For some reason, the installation made visitors come out with the strangest and bizarre stories- be it about their childhood secret hideouts or their most outlandish macabre fantasies! The response was so positive that I've already started planning my next show for 2013.

The press attention the show received was also pretty impressive.  Say what you want about the media, but for me, this kind of thing can only be positve.  The more people I can share my work with the better..

I'm going to stop jabbering for a moment to upload some photos of my cake adventures over the last 8 months.  I must warn you in advance about the sheer abundance of images- but this really is a one off!  These 'Connie gets her life sorted out days' can run away with themselves a bit, but it really has been so long... so here gooeeess....
